Elegant Orchid & Ambergris
蘭芳龍涎香
Warm and resinous: frankincense and agarwood, the green, rooty edge of chuanxiong, a little rose and a soft ambergris accord. The richest of the four.
- Materials
- Agarwood accord, sandalwood, frankincense, chuanxiong (Sichuan lovage root), rose dew, ambergris accord. The agarwood and ambergris here are accords: nothing in this blend comes from a whale.
- Method
- Powdered, blended and shaped into beads by hand.
- Origin
- Ambergris, longxian 龍涎 or “dragon’s saliva”, was among the most prized incense materials of the Song dynasty.
- Note
- There is no orchid in the list. The orchid is the impression the blend leaves.
